A former Venus Independent School District teacher’s aide caught with child sexual abuse material was jailed in Johnson County.
Andrew Daniel Centeno was arrested on a charge of possession with intent to promote child pornography.
According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, detectives executed a residential search warrant in Venus as part of an investigation into child sexual abuse material.
As a result, Centeno was taken into custody and subsequently confessed.
He was booked into the Johnson County Jail on February 19. Bond was set at $500,000.
Centeno worked for Venus ISD as an educational aide from 2020 through the end of 2024.
A Venus ISD press release stated that the district is assisting the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in its investigation and at this time “does not believe the allegations involve any VISD students.”
The sheriff’s office stated that Centeno had also been involved with children’s ministries at various churches.
JCSO is seeking information from the public regarding Centeno and any contact he may have had with children.
Anyone with information is urged to call (817) 556-6058 or email Detective Richards or Detective Campbell.
“The safety and well-being of children in our community remains our highest priority,” JCSO added.
Centeno was certified as an educational aide in 2020. His certificate expired in September 2024.
He is among hundreds of Texas school employees accused of sex crimes involving students and other children in just the past few years. Thousands have been reported to the Texas Education Agency for sexual misconduct.
