Once considered a staunch conservative, State Rep. Dan Flynn (R-Van) inexplicably sold out to the Austin establishment and hasn’t looked back.

From his bizarre persecution of UT regent and whistleblower Wallace Hall, to his support of the Democrats’ legislative leadership, Flynn has turned against conservatives. Despite all this, Flynn might have been safe at home… except for his barrage of attacks against the popular state senator there (Bob Hall), and his push for a highly unpopular toll road project that would threaten family farms and bifurcate the district.

He’s being challenged by local businessman Bryan Slaton, whose deep roots in the region are matched only by his work ethic. We’ve endorsed Slaton.

What’s Happening: Slaton is showing up everywhere in the district. Flynn, meanwhile, is campaigning hard in Austin and – bizarrely – in Turkey (which is even further from HD2 than Austin).
