A Houston business owner already facing criminal charges tied to alleged AI-generated sexual content is now the target of a multi-million-dollar civil lawsuit.

The Buzbee Law Firm has filed suit against Jorge Abrego, a co-owner of HTX Tactical, accusing him of orchestrating a prolonged campaign of online impersonation and harassment against a Houston-based internet influencer identified in court filings as “Jane Doe.” The lawsuit seeks more than $10 million in damages and requests a jury trial.

Abrego was arrested in August 2025 following an investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Prosecutors charged him with online impersonation and unlawful production of sexually explicit videos, offenses tied to allegations that he used artificial intelligence tools to create fake nude images and videos depicting the influencer.

According to court records referenced in the lawsuit, investigators allege Abrego created multiple fake TikTok accounts using usernames closely resembling the influencer’s real profiles. Those accounts were then used to post AI-generated images and videos that appeared to show her engaged in sexual activity.

The lawsuit claims Abrego simultaneously attempted to build a personal relationship with the influencer, expressing romantic interest and presenting himself as a trusted friend. “While Plaintiff voiced her fear for her safety and concerns as to what was going on, Abrego pretended to be a trusted friend who could be confided in,” the lawsuit states. “As Plaintiff dealt with the onslaught she was experiencing online, Defendant Abrego pretended to be her source of emotional support, despite orchestrating the very events that were causing her torture.”

Investigators say they ultimately traced the fake accounts back to Abrego using subscriber data, phone records, and IP address information. According to records, the phone number used to create at least one impersonation account was registered to Abrego, and associated IP addresses were linked to HTX Tactical.

During the investigation, deputies reported finding more than 50 nude images and videos on Abrego’s cell phone that appeared to be created with artificial intelligence. The influencer told investigators she has never posted nude images online and said the content caused damage to her personal and professional reputation, financial losses, and fear for her safety.

In one example cited in court records, an AI-generated video depicted a woman in green lingerie bent over a table with the influencer’s face digitally imposed. Another allegedly showed her topless, with flowers placed over her breasts.

Following Abrego’s arrest, HTX Tactical co-owner Javier Garcia released a public statement emphasizing that Abrego is presumed innocent and that the allegations do not reflect the company’s values. The civil lawsuit, however, names HTX Tactical as a defendant alongside Abrego.

Attorney Tony Buzbee said the case reflects a growing problem online. “Unfortunately, it’s becoming far too common to see deepfakes on the internet,” Buzbee said in a statement. “This conduct is harmful and defamatory.”

The lawsuit echoes many of the allegations outlined in the criminal case but expands on the emotional and reputational harm allegedly suffered by the influencer, seeking more than $1 million in actual damages and punitive damages expected to exceed $10 million.

The case unfolds amid broader scrutiny of artificial intelligence tools and their misuse. Texas lawmakers have previously warned that advances in AI have made it easier to create explicit synthetic material, prompting legislative efforts aimed at curbing AI-generated sexual exploitation.

More recently, reports have surfaced that Grok, an AI system associated with X, has been used to generate sexually explicit images of women and, in some cases, children from fully clothed photos, raising renewed concerns about safeguards and enforcement.

Abrego remains out of jail on a $10,000 bond.
