An administrator at an IDEA public charter school in Round Rock was arrested for inappropriately touching a 15-year-old student while on school property.

Aaron Joseph Freeman, 49, was arrested and charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact, a second-degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison.

Freeman was an assistant principal for operations at IDEA Round Rock Tech, which serves pre-K through 10th-grade students. He was fired following his arrest on March 3.

According to the student, the incident occurred on February 21. Freeman allegedly grabbed the girl and tickled her, touching her breast.

The student reported the incident to the Round Rock Police Department.

Following an investigation, Round Rock police obtained an arrest warrant, and Freeman was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals.

Freeman was booked into the Williamson County Jail on March 3 and released the next day on a $40,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in a Travis County court on April 8.

An IDEA spokesperson said the school was aware of Freeman’s arrest, which happened off campus, and was working with law enforcement to ensure the safety of students and staff.

State records show that Freeman does not hold a Texas teaching certificate.

He is listed as “under investigation” on the Do Not Hire Registry of individuals not eligible to be employed by a public school.

In just the past few years, hundreds of Texas teachers have been accused of sex crimes involving students and other children.
