UPDATED November 10.

A special education teacher’s aide in Mount Pleasant Independent School District has been arrested for sex crimes involving a student.

JaQuaven Len Rogers, 27, was charged with sexual assault of a child, improper relationship between educator and student, and child grooming.

Rogers worked at Wallace Middle School but has since been fired.

According to a statement from Mount Pleasant ISD, the alleged victim is a student at a different school in the district.

The district stated that it was made aware on Friday of an “inappropriate situation” involving a teacher’s aide at P.E. Wallace Middle School and a “current MPISD student attending a different campus.”

“The employee was immediately brought to the administration building for questioning which resulted in their immediate termination. MPISD contacted the Mount Pleasant Police Department who immediately began their investigation,” wrote the district.

Mount Pleasant ISD stated it has also filed required reports with Child Protective Services and the Texas Education Agency.

“The safety and security of our students and staff members is our #1 priority,” the district added.

Officials are currently unaware of any other victims.

Rogers was arrested on November 7 and booked into the Titus County Jail. Online jail records show he is no longer in custody.

District spokeswoman Kelly Cowan told Texas Scorecard that Mount Pleasant ISD employed Rogers as a substitute from February 17, 2023, until December 1, 2024. He worked as a teacher’s aide at P.E. Wallace Middle School from December 2, 2024, until he was terminated on November 7, 2025.

Rogers received an educational aide certificate in November 2024, which is now under review by the TEA.

In just the past few years, hundreds of Texas school employees have been accused of sexual misconduct involving students and other minors, and thousands have been reported to the state’s education agency.
