UPDATED January 25 with information from Dallas Police.

Prosper Independent School District Board President Drew Wilborn has been arrested and charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact, district officials confirmed Wednesday evening.

According to Dallas Police, the arrest stems from an incident reported on April 12, 2022, involving a 16-year-old being inappropriately touched by Wilborn, who was an executive pastor at Antioch Church at the time.

Police arrested Wilborn Wednesday afternoon and booked him into the Dallas County jail.

Wilborn has served as a Prosper ISD trustee since 2021.

Prosper ISD has been embroiled in another sex abuse scandal since last August, when parents of two elementary school girls sued the district after their daughters endured months of molestation by a Prosper ISD bus driver. The lawsuit also alleges Superintendent Holly Ferguson told the victims’ mother to keep quiet about the abuse to protect her family and the district from media attention.

The bus driver was arrested and jailed last May—about a month after the unrelated allegations were lodged against Wilborn—but he later died. Prosper parents, including moms whose children rode the molester’s bus, didn’t learn about the sexual abuse charges until the lawsuit was filed months later.

Earlier this week, Wilborn and other trustees extended Ferguson’s contract. Both she and the district are defendants in the lawsuit. Wilborn and the board also declined to release any information from an internal investigation into the bus driver’s abuse and the district’s cover-up of the scandal, citing the pending litigation.

This is a developing story.
