Fort Bend Independent School District Trustee David Hamilton’s X account was suspended earlier this week without providing any explanation for the suspension.

Hamilton told Texas Scorecard, the “Only explanation that makes sense to me is that radical activists who don’t like that I’m exposing Texas school library books submitted fake reports of rule violations.”

He recently commented on the presence of explicit books in the Fort Bend ISD libraries, highlighting that such books are unacceptable to parents.

New school library standards, which restrict sexually explicit material, were adopted in December 2023 by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and the State Board of Education, in compliance with House Bill 900.

However, it’s been up to parents to ensure the standards are implemented in their school districts.

Despite Elon Musk’s purchase of social media giant Twitter, now X, users face lingering issues with free speech on the platform.

Fort Bend ISD is the sixth-largest school district in Texas.

X responded to Texas Scorecard’s request for comment with the statement “Busy now, please check back later.”
