Trustees for Spring Branch Independent School District fired a middle school teacher after he was charged with possessing child sexual abuse material.
The board of trustees made the unanimous decision on Monday, nullifying Chandler Samuel Lee Price’s school contract without pay.
Online records show Price has worked for Spring Branch ISD since the 2023-24 school year and has held a Texas teaching certificate for English since the 2023 school year.
Price was arrested and charged earlier this month for possession of child pornography, the term used in Texas law for child sexual abuse material.
A charging document states that the material depicted the sexual assault of a child younger than 10 years of age, making the crime a first-degree felony punishable by up to life in prison.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Price exchanged messages with a co-defendant in Ohio whom he told authorities he was “dating over the phone.”
Video footage showing a child between the ages of five and eight being sexually assaulted was discovered on Price’s phone when officers executed a search warrant.
In just the past few years, hundreds of Texas teachers have been accused of sex crimes involving students and other children. Thousands have been reported to the Texas Education Agency for sexual misconduct.
