Don’t think taxpayer pressure matters? Don’t tell the people in Stephenville. Just hours after school district officials implemented a tax hike, the school board decided to meet in special session and cancel the plans. Why? The outcry from overburdened taxpayers was too much to bear. We can win, we just have to speak loudly and clearly. Stephenville ISD board members apparently tax first, think later. That was their original plan. Then the people found out. Now, it seems, the school district can meet their “needs” with existing monies. It just took a little more thought. Here’s to forcing dunderhead school trustees into using their heads for more than a hat rack!
