A third teacher in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District was arrested for a sex crime—all three in the month of March.
Jon Jerel Guzman Singh was arrested on a charge of invasive visual recording, a state jail felony.
He was booked into the Denton County Jail on March 27 and released on a $5,000 bond.
At the time of his arrest, Singh was teaching freshman-level engineering design and dual-credit physics classes at R.L. Turner High School, according to a staff listing on the school’s Engineering Academy webpage.
Singh also coached football and track and was the campus Esports coordinator.
Online records show Singh began teaching in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD in the 2020-21 school year and previously worked as a teacher’s aide in Anna ISD. His LinkedIn page also shows that he was a “guest teacher” in Little Elm ISD.
A district spokeswoman declined to say if or when Singh had been placed on leave, or if he was fired or resigned, directing Texas Scorecard to file a public information request.
But a statement from Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD referred to Singh as “a formerly employed individual.”
“The Frisco Police Department is leading an active investigation involving a formerly employed individual. The district takes this matter seriously and is fully cooperating with law enforcement,” the statement read. “This is all the information available to share.”
Singh disappeared from the Turner staff directory, but district officials did not notify families.
District parent Nicolas James learned of concerns about Singh and discovered the teacher had been arrested and was under investigation by the Texas Education Agency.
Details of Singh’s alleged crime are not yet available. James told Texas Scorecard he received reports that the recording took place off campus.
Singh was certified as an educational aide in 2020 and received a Texas teaching certificate for math/physical science/engineering in 2021.
The State Board For Educator Certification is scheduled to consider a temporary suspension of Singh’s certificate during a special meeting on May 14.
Two other Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD teachers were arrested in March for child sex crimes involving students.
Perry Middle School ESL teacher Miguel Caban Mendez was arrested March 4 and charged with two counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact, two counts of improper relationship between educator and student, and one count of indecent assault.
Creekview High School theater teacher Kolby Campbell was arrested March 28 on a charge of child grooming.
Over the past few years, a growing number of Texas school employees have been accused of sex crimes against students and other children, and thousands have been reported to the Texas Education Agency for sexual misconduct.
