A now-former West Texas school employee is accused of sexual misconduct with a student.

Luis Gustavo Aguilar Escamilla, 24, was arrested and charged with improper relationship between educator and a student, a second-degree felony.

Escamilla worked as a custodian at LBJ High School in the United Independent School District at the time of the alleged crime.

According to a report by KGNS, the “relationship” began last October, after Escamilla contacted the 18-year-old student via social media.

The student reported the relationship to her school principal and counselor in late January.

She allegedly told Children’s Advocacy Center investigators that she met Escamilla at movie theaters and local stores, then they engaged in sexual conduct in December.

KGNS reported that Escamilla is no longer employed by United ISD, and his parents who also worked for the district “voluntarily resigned after being interviewed by investigators.”

“In a statement, the district said it is aware of the recent arrest involving the former employee and that student safety is its highest priority.”

Over the past few years, a growing number of Texas school employees—including custodians—have been accused of sex crimes against students and minors.

In 2025 alone, Allen ISD contract custodian Jason Giuliani was arrested for online solicitation of a minor, Little Elm ISD elementary school custodian Eric Landaverde was charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, Austin ISD custodian Agustin Lopez was arrested on a charge of indecency with a child, and Bullard ISD janitor Bryan Taylor was jailed for unlawful restraint and attempted sexual performance by a child.

Thousands of educators have been reported to the Texas Education Agency for sexual misconduct.
