Hear me all my friends Thanksgiving week. And, you know, I thought it would be good on this show behind the show addition to the Salcedo Storm Podcast just to kind of look at some some concepts not necessarily issue driven, although I’m sure some current events are going to come up when we get into our conversation with Sean Chastain. But I’d like to focus if we can initially anyway on this idea of American exceptionalism and why it’s for so long. So many Americans were universal in our defense of this, because there was a time when we were educated.
Not anymore with Gov Ed. But there was a time when our people were educated on the dangers of collectivism, one of these individuals who was responsible for describing in graphic detail and in in kind of a 30,000 foot, look at what collectivism does is iron Rand. Of course, Atlas Shrugged is the name of her, her Opus and Atlas Shrugged, talked about a society that I think really looks an awful lot like what we’re living today. Here’s iron Rand back in 1959, describing the dangers of monopolies, which are, you know, basically a feature of complete government control, listen this.
“Single Corporation, where to get a stranglehold on a vital product or a row of raw material uranium, for instance, which might be vital to the national defense and then would refuse to sell it to the government. Then, under a free system, no one could acquire a monopoly on anything. If you look at economics and economic history, you will discover that all monopolies have been established with government help with the help of franchises, subsidies or any kind of government privileges. In free competition. No one could cornered the market on a needed product. It is an intellectual issue. Since they all believe in collectivism, they do favor it.”
Yeah, they do. They do. collectivism is a is sorry, an inherent attribute of big unaccountable government. And that’s why the Founding Fathers knowing this decided to limit our government’s power, although over the couple of 100 years are our government’s been in in place.
The leftists have found ways around this and established precedents that have eroded this idea. By the way government education is a monopoly. Gov, it is a monopoly. There should be no subsidies going to give it there should be no subsidies, keeping gov head going. There’s that the money should follow the child and the parents child should be able to determine where that child is best educated, not the state. George Carlin nails it when he talks about the elitist divide in this country and the folks the elites inside of the Texas Legislature and those states that are still among the knuckle knuckle dragging states denying parental school choice and education freedom. Let Doesn’t it sound a lot like them listen.
“That’s all you ever hear about in this country is our differences. That’s all the media and the politicians are ever talking about the things that separate us things that make us different from one another. That’s the way the ruling class operates in any society. They tried to divide the rest of the people you.”
Yes. And you could hear those arguments from the Democrats and these fake Republicans who really are Democrats who are saying, Oh, no one taxpayer dollars going to a private institution, you know, to these people that are wealthy and rich, or maybe even religious, oh, no, we can’t have that the elitism is dripping off of their tongues.
“They keep the lower in the middle classes fighting with each other, so that they the rich can run off with all the money, fairly simple thing happens to work, you know, anything different. That’s what they’re going to talk about race, religion, ethnic and national background, jobs, income, education, social status, sexuality, anything you can do keep us fighting with each other so that they can keep going to the bank. You know, how I describe the economic and social classes in this country, the upper class keeps all of the money pays none of the taxes, the middle class pays all of the taxes does all of the work. The poor are there, just to scare the crap out of the middle class. from showing up at those jobs.”
I’m having a hard time disagreeing with the late great George Carlin in his evaluation of elites in this country and around this globe, keeping us fighting amongst ourselves and fighting for the scraps they throw us from their table. Now, for those of you who are out there hearing these left wing extremists, whether they be in government or so called Higher Education, what are they always tell us? That it’s capitalism? That’s greedy? It’s it’s the free enterprise system that’s greedy. And the only solution to that is communism.
Wait a minute, communism. Communism, is greedy to it just hoards all the wealth for the elitist few, at least capitalism and free enterprise spreads out the wealth to those who make good decisions, or those who work hard. There’s, there are more people risen out of poverty in the free enterprise system in the capitalist system than anything in the socialist or communist system.
That’s just true. That’s factually correct. Although all you hear from all these left wingers on on college campuses, is that oh no, we got to institute communism as a solution to the inequities of, of the capitalist society or the free enterprise society. And folks, I gotta tell you, the definition of inequity is the left wing is communism is socialism. And you know, who knew that Milton Friedman, and he would try to take these messages to places like the Donahue show Donahue, big left winger back in the day, but at least he would listen to the likes of Milton Friedman, who made a hell of a lot of sense.
“Tell me is there’s some society, you know, that doesn’t run on greed. You think Russia doesn’t run on greed? You think China doesn’t run on greed? What is greed? Of course, none of us are greedy, if only the other fellows grew. This, the world runs on individuals pursuing their separators. The great achievements of civilization have not come from government bureaus. Einstein didn’t construct his theory under order from from a bureaucrat. Henry Ford didn’t revolutionize the automobile industry that way, in the only cases in which the masses have escaped from the kind of grinding poverty, you’re talking about the only cases in recorded history or weather where they have had capitalism and largely free trade. If you want to know where the masses are worse, worse off, worst off. It’s exactly the kinds of societies that depart from that. So that the record of history is absolutely crystal clear that there is no alternative way. So far discovered of improving the lot of the ordinary people that can hold a candle to the productive activities that are unleashed by free enterprise.”
By a free enterprise system. Absolutely. And to date, I mean that the left wingers keep on saying they repackage socialism repackage communism, no, this time, it’ll be better folks. This time. I bet trust us this time. And it never works out history is replete with those promises broken, good time to reflect on who we are as Americans on this Thanksgiving week. We dig into it. Yes. And to you too, my friend. You know, I had to call you back when we first started because I’m baking cookies. Really? I had to pull something out of the oven there. Yeah.
Nice. Well, what’s now what’s the occasion? Do you have people visiting? I had the stuff to make cookies and I wanted cookies.
Oh, okay. Well, I you go I’m okay. That’s fine. You know it’s I’ve I have been known in my career in my in my bachelor days to make cookies for myself. I just wanted to know if there was an occasion. All right, well, up any plans for Thanksgiving?
Yes. headed to New Mexico early early early Wednesday morning. I’ll go to bed. You know what a decent hour and then get up when I have to pee for the third time or whatever. And apparently as the prostate size of goat’s head, I don’t know gonna say. But yeah, anyway, so I’ll just head out then. And hopefully hit Amarillo by morning as the song goes.
Hey, go and you know what I one of my favorite times of the year and we’re gonna get into this on the Wednesday, Salcedo storm podcast. We have and I’m it’s not that I’m deigning to replace Rush Limbaugh. I’m just I’m just saying that every talk show host should try to keep this tradition alive. Of taking rushes words about the real story of Thanksgiving. And, and make sure that that tradition doesn’t die. Because when I was a kid, it was the Peanuts gang coming on television. That was kind of the official notice, hey, the holiday season is here. With in my adult years, he was hearing Rush Limbaugh tell the true story of thanksgiving. What was the official kickoff to the holiday season for me?
Yeah. So yeah. Oh, that’ll be good. I’ll have to maybe listen. Yeah, you know what, man? Take it, take it with you on your trip. That’d be cool. Okay, so what’s on your, on your radar this week?
Nothing, just living for Wednesday morning, gonna go see the grandbabies and my daughter and her wife and hang out and eat. And that’s about it. So just looking just laser focused on that. But I’ve been paying attention this weekend. So you know, with all the news stories going on. And the one thing that I am baffled by is the lack of coverage about the war in Israel? Because it is just dropped off the map. I mean, you have to go dig deep to find stuff on it. And I don’t understand why. But I mean, unless they’re just doing so well, that. You know, there’s not much to report, but I don’t know.
Yeah, well, I don’t know that there’s not much to report. I just think that there seems to be an effort and I’ve been talking about this. On and off here. There seems to be an effort to flip the script. It was Israel that was attacked brutally 1300 of its citizens brutally murdered and because they’ve chosen to respond and to remove the threat. Now it becomes that it is it is Israel. That is that is in the wrong and I you know what you see it on college campuses you see it at left wing media outlets. I just gotta say, man, it turns my stomach to see this to see this attempt.
Yeah, I don’t see how anybody could look at themselves in the mirrors after after protesting Israel, that to me that just means you are supporting terrorists and you can say you can claim that’s not the case all day long. But if you’re anti Israel right now you are supporting terrorists in my opinion. And it’s just disgusting. And I’m encouraged by you know, we I think we’ve talked about burgeoning addictions to social media, stuff like reels on Facebook or Instagram, that kind of thing, right? And I’m just fascinated with it. And boy, that’ll just suck some time out of your life that you don’t even realize. But I’m encouraged to see all the little videos of people confronting other people who’ve turned down the posters of the kidnapped Israelis.
That is that is cool to watch, isn’t it? Yeah. Yeah, it really is. And another thing I’m encouraged on on that kind of thing is how many black conservatives there seem to be I don’t know if you’ve got any those but there’s several just black dudes, there’s, you know, some of them are by themselves. Some of them are with another dude. And just reaction videos to outlandish things liberal say and, or just flat out just conservative talking, you know, and, and so yeah, it’s, it’s encouraging and kind of fun. And then, you know, there’s comfy videos of workplace mishaps or Yeah, yeah.
Well, yeah, you know, what, and I think what I every single one, well, I shouldn’t say every single but most of the ones that I see of these individuals getting confronted, they they seem like they’re like they’re like a deer caught in headlights, you’re and they can’t fathom that somebody would oppose what they’re doing they live in such a bubble and they believe they’re so entitled that that they’re able to do these things without any pushback. And the minute they do get pushed back they are they are literally like how could you be opposing me? Doesn’t everybody hate Jews? I mean, they had that look on their face doesn’t I thought everybody hated Jews and.
Saw hi end banker got fired this week for his views on on Jewish people and well, he supports that kind of stuff. Well, wait, he was he was support he was at hold on and then I’ve got this story. Maybe it maybe you and I are talking about a different Yeah, fix. Now this guy was fired for his pro Palestinian believes.
Oh, okay. Yeah, the one I was talking about is an individual who cited a political cartoon by AF Bronco, who, and he was here it is. Doctors are getting fired. This is a doctor getting fired for supporting Israel now renowned cancer doc sues NYU Langone after firing over pro Israel posts unceremoniously dumped this guy, he, he was pointing to an AF Bronco cartoon, which basically, it’s it was a good it was a good cartoon. It’s up. John Kerry sitting there. And it’s a 2014 cartoon, John Kerry is sitting there. And Hamas says under its demands Death to all Jews and Hamas is holding a child with a with a bomb vest strapped to it. And he’s presenting his terms to Bibi Netanyahu, right, demanding Death to all Jews. And John Kerry is saying, Could you at least meet them halfway? So this doctor points out, you know, echoes this and points out the absurdity. And then he’s fired. I mean, really?
Yeah. I mean, unless there’s if that’s the only thing they had on it, that’s just how do they sleep with themselves knowing the shape the medical communities in any way, the stress that it’s under? If the guy’s a good doctor and not, you know, diddling interns or anything like that? And that’s what they get him on? How could How could you do that? How do you know? Where? Yeah, where’s the where’s the board of the hospital saying, Hey, that’s not helping us make money. So let’s stop that.
Yeah, no, kidding. Not not. He’s a renowned cancer treatment guy. It’s not like he’s just you know, as if there is such a thing as a rank and file cancer treatment guy, but I’m just saying this this guy has had some chops? You know, man, it see, it’s to me and the reason why I brought this up. And I think that you’ve been noticing it. What sickens me is that these people who push narrative over facts are what I call narrative over news. It’s these people that that tell you know what? No, no, no, the real story of what happened on October 7, is the fact that Jews got attack is the response to the Jews have undertaken? That’s the big story. And to me, it’s, it’s, it’s going to fall apart number one, because there’s no truth to it. But number two, we’re seeing evidence of this happening everywhere. Have you heard of this documentary? It’s an hour and 42 minutes long, called the fall of Minneapolis. Have you heard it? There’s not no. Well, there’s and there’s no wonder because there’s a media blackout on it. It is. So the director is JC and I don’t know how you pronounce his last name. Ch AI x. Is it? Che er, I’m not sure how you pronounce it. Anyway, problem. It’s a multi part documentary featuring featuring body worn camera video of George Floyd’s arrest, interviews with officers who served during the riots, and key evidence from the autopsy and Derek Chauvin, ‘s trial, and the aftermath of followed. So basically, what it shows is my understanding, I’ve watched it all the way through yet my understanding is, it just blows up all the narratives, you know, Nancy Pelosi, praying to St. George Floyd, it just destroys all of that narrative saying, No, it wasn’t he wasn’t killed, he wasn’t murdered by a racist white cop. That’s not what happened. And it was the justification for this turning our society upside down. Yeah. And it’s it wasn’t factually based.
Well, that’s what was so frustrating during the early part of that was that you know, everybody said that he died under his knee you didn’t and that you know, that came out early but that was quickly hushed hushed you know, because he died in the air either in the ambulance or at the hospital with enough with enough drugs in the system to Frankel horse, so yeah, I don’t know. And so, you know, that doesn’t surprise me that, you know, it comes out now when Shogun who who I’m not defending at all, I think that he was way over the top on that. But I also don’t think he should be in prison for murder.
Well, especially when you look at the autopsy. Yeah, especially when the Met the medical examiner determined the cause of death. And it wasn’t a speciation, right? It wasn’t it wasn’t from Derek Chauvin. But this guy serve in time. Yeah, for a narrative for a narrative.
And yeah, it’s scary, man. It’s so scary what they can do to people. Right. And we, you know, we’ve talked about that in the past what they’re doing the January 6 people, but then we’ve had multiple, be deemed insurrections here in the last few weeks. And nothing’s happening. Exactly. I mean, they get a ticket for trespassing and are released, you know.
Real insurrections actual army. Jamaal Bowman, a sitting member of Congress, disrupts an official an official action of Congress, and he gets a slap on the wrist. Yeah. But But George Santos, he’s gotta go. Right? You know, because, because he perhaps lied about campaign financing. Oh, he’s gotta go. But But Jamaal Bowman, a left wing extremist who actually knowingly pulled a fire alarm to disrupt the official business of Congress. I know he gets to stay. And he gets it. And you brought up January 6, Mike Johnson, the new Speaker of the House releases, I’d say 90 to 93% of the videos for according to reporting, and they’re showing Well, here’s here’s the Newsweek headline, January 6 videos praised by Republicans, quote, narrative has crumbled. And it get there it is narrative over news, the narrative. I mean it from Ashley Babbitt, on to what was actually happening that day in the Capitol. The narrative is collapsing that it was at all an insurrection. And you know what, you and I have been, I think laughing at this. If you’re gonna bring no guns to an insurrection you’re doing it wrong. Right. And the only person to die that day from being performing shot was Ashley Babbitt and an unarmed white veteran of the United States Air Force. And she was a threat to no buddy, and she got shot.
I mean, yes, you’re absolutely right. Yeah. She was shot climbing through a broken window. So I’m not I’m not defending her by any means. But yeah, that wasn’t an insurrection. And what’s happened to those people is just sickening. And it’s so scary that it has happened. And that that could happen to any of us at pursuing people.
Hey, well, have you seen the videos that show? There’s one where a police officer has a guy in handcuffs? Yeah. And he uncovers him, and then does a fist bump. They do a fist bump to each other. Wow. It’s like, Dude, what the hell did I just watch? Right?
And so now where’s the recourse? How are those people that are still in jail? Still in jail awaiting trial? Where’s the recourse for them? Where’s the second chance? How did those lives be made hold?
Well, again, they’ve had their due process rights suspended. Many of these cats have been in solitary confinement, and had had their rights suspended out of a narrative because they needed because and it all goes back to what President the hatred of President Trump and making sure he never sees the oval office again. And look at all these people how? And this, this is the message, man, don’t support President Trump, are you going to end up in jail? Right.
But I mean, this is America, there’s got to be a way to fix this. There’s got to be a court system. There’s got to be something that fixes this. I don’t I don’t understand.
Well, I do and it happens in banana republics all the time. It happens, it happens in these that what’s happening to us is, is what happened in the Soviet Union. What happened? What’s happened now today in China, is you get a bunch of people who say, You know what, I no longer want to be accountable. I don’t want to play by the rules anymore. These, the American people are stupid, and I’m going to, you know, we they shouldn’t be able to make these choices. I’m going to make it for them. And there are people who have who grown tempted to believe that they should be calling the shots. And I don’t pretend to know the full scope of it, Sean, all I know, is there are a lot of bad actors around the globe who seem to be invested. And making sure these people who have undertaken this effort win here Yeah, yeah. And it really it really gives me a lot of pause. And when I’m seeing some of these videos, and go look at this Newsweek, I mean, you this Newsweek article, you’ll see that they’ve listed some of these videos that are up on x. Charlie Kirk is putting them up Congressman Troy hills, here in Texas, putting some of them up. Citizen free press it paints a picture of man, we were sold a bill of goods.
Yeah. Yeah. So I don’t know, man, I still have hope and faith. And, you know, maybe it’s, maybe this will just inch the ball along a little bit further to make us realize that we all need to get out and vote and vote the right way.
So I would hope I would hope so. I, I hope that’s what happens because I’ve got to be honest with you, man. In this week, where we celebrate Thanksgiving, which is a very, very American holiday. And one that that has us thanking the Almighty not the Indians, not big government, thanking the Almighty for all of our blessings. We I think we should really pay attention to those who want to take those liberties away. I really do.
Yeah. So you’re gonna have everybody home? I’m gonna Yeah, you know, it’s gonna be it’s gonna be a family Thanksgiving this year. Nobody else gonna be sitting down with us. It’s just gonna be us. So looking forward to it and and a short work week. I’m looking forward to Wednesday, myself, man.
