Dallas Skyline High School alum Marcus Garrett enters his junior year at Kansas as a feared defensive cog for the Jayhawks.

The 6-foot-5-inch, 195-pound Garrett is fresh from a sophomore campaign in which he was selected to the Big 12 All-Defensive Team. In a Jan. 19 matchup against West Virginia, Garrett committed a then-season high of six steals. He eventually posted season totals of 10 blocks and 43 steals.

Shooting around 44 percent, the soon-to-be three-year letterman averaged 7.2 points per game in the 2018-2019 season.

Garrett, who is a communication studies major, came to Lawrence as the Texas 2017 Gatorade Player of the Year. He led Skyline to state on the strength of 17.3 points, 10.4 rebounds, 9.1 assists, 3.1 steals and 2.9 blocks per game in his senior year.
