Fort Bend Ridge Point High alum Grant Carlson has proved to be an asset for Boston College’s special teams unit.

After two years of inaction, the Missouri City native suited up in 2018 as a redshirt sophomore and started in all 12 games. He punted for an average of 40.2 yards per kick, including 25 inside the 20-yard line.

The 6-foot-190-pound Carlson, now a redshirt junior enrolled in BC’s Carroll School of Management, is on pace to maintain his yards-per-kick average since he has approximately 40 yards per punt through six games. He made seven punts of 50-plus yards to surpass last year’s mark of five.

Carlson was an all-state and all-district punter for Ridge Point.
