After being named the team’s most improved running back, Maurice Gordon is counting on a big senior season for the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders.

In all, Gordon played in eight games for Middle Tennessee this season, finishing with 41 yards rushing in a showing that may just be scratching the surface of what he’s capable of.

The 5-foot-10, 194-pound junior joined the Blue Raiders’ program after two seasons at Navarro College, according to the school’s website. At Navarro, he earned 2016 All-SWJCFC honors after leading team with 903 rushing yards and nine touchdowns as a sophomore. Gordon also added 23 catches, good for 201 yards and three more scores to lead the team in all-purpose yards.

At Denton Ryan High, Gordon lettered in both football and track and was named offensive player of the year in football as a senior. He is majoring in liberal arts at Middle Tennessee.
