Kamari Williams’ freshman season at the University of Texas is proving to be a learning time for the former Oak Ridge High star.
Even as the speedy running back still awaits his first official carry, Williams’ learning curve is being accelerated just by being in the company of the No. 7 ranked Longhorns each day.
And as if that isn’t enough, BurntOrangeNation.com reports, the 5-foot-9, 175 speedster is still thinking of maybe running track for the Longhorns this fall.
Majoring in exercise science, Williams settled on attending Texas as a walk-on and despite the school boasting a Top 10 nationally ranked recruiting class, according to 247Sports.com. The Texas class was rated No. 2 in the Big 12.
Currently, Texas sits at 6-1 overall and a perfect 4-0, good for first-place, in the stacked conference.
Oak Ridge finished 6-4 in Williams’ senior season under the tutelage of veteran coach Dereck Rush.
