Plano, Texas, native Rebecca Lescay has already single-handedly scored 10 or more points in two basketball games for the Tulsa Hurricanes, and she’s only a freshman.
The 5-foot-8 guard played in 22 games out of a total of 31 during her freshman year with the Hurricanes. Her season highs include 13 points, six steals and six field goals against Tulane and eight rebounds against UConn. She scored two free throws against Houston, logging four assists during that game. For the 2017-18 season she made the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
Lescay lettered four times in basketball at Liberty High School and saw her team reach the state finals during her junior year and the state Class 5A Regional Finals during 12th grade. Her high-school stats were impressive, according to her college bio: “averaged 13.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.4 blocks per game as a senior.”
The marketing major, whose parents are Carlos Lescay and Olga Vasilieva, counts Cuba as her most memorable travel destination. The Tulsa World named her a Player to Watch last year.
