Cade Barnard feels right at home in the Army Black Knights football program.

Hailing from the rural area of Seminole, Texas, Barnard committed to Army in the most memorable way, marching down to a nearby gun-range and blasting holes through various school logos with a Sig Sauer TTT until only Army was left.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound freshman linebacker and honor-roll student is expected to quickly pay dividends for the program.

“Academically I’m looking for a high level school that will take my career to where it needs to be,” he told UMass 247 soon after making his choice official. “Athletically, I want to compete with and against the best.”

At Seminole High, Barnard showed he can compete against most anyone, earning All-State honors twice, while also competing in basketball and track for all four years.

Ranking near the top of his class, Barnard was also a member of the Theatre Club for three years.
