Could Kentucky freshman guard Tyrese Maxey be next the Wildcat whose name is called by NBA commissioner Adam Silver in June?
The South Garland High graduate recently introduced himself to the college basketball universe in a huge way in Kentucky’s season-opener at Madison Square Garden in New York. Maxey, who stands 6-foot-3-inches and weighs 198 pounds, poured in a game-high 26 points on 13 shots in 26 minutes to help the Wildcats beat Michigan State, 69-62, in the Champions Classic on Nov. 5.
Bleacher Report’s mock 2020 draft board projects the floor general being selected by the Chicago Bulls with the fifth pick in the June draft.
Listed as an undeclared/exploratory studies major in agriculture, Maxey was an honor graduate at South Garland. He was the top-ranked player in Kentucky’s 2019 commitment class.
Maxey averaged 22.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.7 steals per game for the Colonels during his career.
