In addition to succeeding in the pool, Katie Crown was again honored for her academic accomplishments.

Crown, an alumna of Southlake Carroll and swimmer at Southern Methodist University, has received Scholar All-America honorable mention from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America for the second straight year.

Selection for honorable mention on the Scholar All-American team includes having a grade point average of at least 3.5 and having reached a “B” time standard or competed in a Zone Diving or regional qualifier, the CSCAA website says.

Crown, an rising senior accounting major at SMU, set an American Athletic Conference meet record in the 1-meter dive and twice has has been an NCAA Zone qualifier in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions.

At Southlake Carroll, Crown was an All-American and Academic All-American pick by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association and was the team captain for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons.
