According to recent polling, Democrat gubernatorial candidate Robert “Beto” Francis O’Rourke is still trailing behind Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

O’Rourke, known among voters for his famous line of “Hell yes, we are going to take your AR-15” and his continued support for uninhibited abortion, continues to gain support from the radical left.

But so far, that is not enough to overcome Gov. Greg Abbott.

The current Real Clear Politics of Texas polls show O’Rourke trailing Abbott by 6.3 points. While many on the left claim that O’Rourke is gaining on Abbott, Abbott’s favorability is still higher. Recent polls taken by NBC, Quinnipiac, and the University of Texas each showed the Texas governor leading by at least 5 points.

A Quinnipiac poll released on June 15 found that 90 percent of Republicans and 46 percent of Independents support Abbott, whereas 5 percent of Republicans, 40 percent of Independents, and 96 percent of Democrats support O’Rourke.

The polling comes as O’Rourke continues to embrace far-left positions, including gun confiscation. He doubled down on this position when he interrupted a press conference in Uvalde following the tragic shooting at an elementary school.

When it comes to the border crisis, O’Rourke has advocated against building border walls and supports the removal of the existing wall in El Paso.

Despite Beto’s scenes, rallies, and far-left agendas, Gov. Abbott remains in the lead with four months until the general election.
