Thousands of illegal aliens are gathering along Texas’ southern border, waiting to flood into the U.S. after Title 42 expires on Thursday.

Title 42 is a public health order that allows customs officials to send illegal aliens from “COVID-19 impacted” areas back across the border without processing them through the federal court system.

The Biden administration has reportedly ordered Border Patrol officers to release illegal aliens into the U.S. without proper processing when the order expires tomorrow.

According to a Fox News report, if non-governmental organizations run out of resources to house illegal aliens, Border Patrol will release them without setting a court date or registering them with the immigration program “Alternatives to Detention.” Although they will be on “parole,” Border Patrol will only instruct them to visit an Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office.

While the federal government prepares to allow illegal aliens into the country, thousands of migrants from Mexico and other South American countries have gathered along the border under the expectation that Title 42’s expiration means U.S. officials will not deport them to their home countries.

Already, Border Patrol has apprehended 26,000 illegal aliens and reported more than 7,000 “gotaways” entering the country. A “got-away” is an illegal alien crossing the border seen on camera or involved in a pursuit, but never apprehended.

As May 11 draws closer, border states and cities are preparing for the worst.

El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser declared a state of emergency last week and called for change at the federal level.

“The federal process right now is broken, and it has not been fixed for many, many years,” said Leeser. “And at the end of the day, as a community, we cannot continue to do this with the same laws that the federal government has provided us to work with.”

Although President Joe Biden promised to send 1,500 U.S. troops to the southern border, critics have pointed out that the soldiers will only be responsible for monitoring data and warehouse support and will not apprehend or repel illegal aliens.

In Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott announced that he would send Texas National Guard soldiers to the border as a part of his new Texas Tactical Border Force. In preparation for the flood of illegal aliens, Texas National Guard troops have installed razor wire along popular border-crossing areas.

While Abbott directs troops to the border, Texas legislators are facing backlash from constituents for failing to alleviate the border crisis.

Earlier this week, Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan (R–Beaumont) sided with Democrats in killing House Bill 20, the most thorough border security measure in years.

Title 42 will expire on Thursday night at 11:59 p.m.

Texas Scorecard recently premiered Exposed: Border Invasion, which details the crisis on the border and why it’s happening.
