The Department of Public Safety has rolled out a new policy that stops gender-confused individuals from changing the sex on their driver’s license.

Texas Family Project President Brady Gray told Texas Scorecard the new policy “is a huge win for Texas and for truth.”

According to KUT News, DPS’ Chief of the Driver License Division Sheri Gipson confirmed the change on Wednesday.

Before the new policy came about, an archived version of the Department of Public Safety license website showed that gender-confused individuals could change the sex listed on their driver’s license by bringing an original certified court order or an amended birth certificate verifying the change.

The email announcing the policy, sent out by Gipson, stated, “Effective immediately, August 20, 2024, the Department will not accept court orders or amended birth certificates issued that change the sex when it differs from documentation already on file.”

“For current DL/ID holders, the sex established at the time of original application and listed in the driver record will not be changed unless there was a clerical error. The sex will reflect the sex listed on the primary document presented upon original application that is already on file,” Gipson’s email continued. “If a first-time applicant presents conflicting documents, such as a birth certificate with a court order requiring a sex change, the sex listed on the original birth certificate will take precedence to record the sex.”

“Attempts to erode basic truths of biology are evil and foundational to a larger and more sinister agenda,” said Gray. “While I applaud the actions of TXDPS, we should not understate how absurd it is that these policies are necessary. Citizens must remain vigilant and never accept the lies the left continually bombard society with.”
