State and federal lawmakers spoke out in support of medical liberty and family values at the 10th anniversary celebration of Texans for Vaccine Choice.
The rally was held on Tuesday afternoon at the Capitol. A lineup of speakers, including U.S. Rep. Chip Roy (R-Austin), freshman State Rep. Mitch Little (R-Lewisville), and conservative commentator Sara Gonzales, addressed the event.
“We will fight for you in the Capitol; we will fight for you in the courthouses of this state,” Little said.
“Hold the political officials who represent you back home accountable for their votes, and remind them that mama knows best. Otherwise, they’ll be seeing you at the polls,” he continued.
Gonzales said that there has to be darkness before light can be shone brightly, “and COVID was that darkness.”
“COVID was the tipping point. COVID was our rock-bottom moment, and it infuriates me to this day,” she added.
Following the lineup of speakers was a panel featuring State Reps. Steve Toth (R-Conroe), Cody Vasut (R-Angleton), Nate Schatzline (R-Fort Worth), and Tom Oliverson (R-Cypress). Gonzales moderated the panel.
TFVC Political Director Michelle Evans, who also spoke on the panel, said, “Our primary goal this session is very simple: we want to make it possible to print your exemptions at home.”
Every lawmaker on the panel expressed optimism about the outcome of the 89th legislative session and the passage of bills that encourage medical transparency and freedom for Texans.
Oliverson stressed that Texas still needs a bill that bans vaccine mandates in the workplace. It was met with cheers of agreement in the packed room.
