Leading The Charge Against Obama’s DOJ

With a new study reporting more than 1.8 million deceased people are still registered voters, the obvious reasons for needing strict Voter ID laws are now no-brainers. Thanks to the tireless efforts of Attorney General Greg Abbott, Texans’ may finally enjoy the protections vast majorities support, even if it’s not as soon as we wished.

A new study by the Pew Center on the States reports more than 1.8 million dead people are still registered to vote. That may be music to Democrats’ ears, but it’s a solemn reminder to the rest of us why strict Voter ID laws are need now more than ever.

Thankfully, we have perhaps the state’s most valuable political player, Attorney General Greg Abbott, prepared yet again to go to battle with the Department of Justice over their clear desire to mess with Texas.

Mr. Abbott is set to square off against U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and the DOJ in a federal court next month. Mr. Holder seems to believe that a photo ID requirement “would have a disproportionate impact on Hispanic voters,” despite this never being a problem when the poor seek to enter government buildings, board an airplane, buy alcohol or tobacco, or even purchase some over-the-counter medicine.

Even when a young member of James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas proved just how easy voter fraud was to commit by gaining access to the Washington D.C. primary ballot of Mr. Holder himself (61 years old), Mr. Holder still refuses to acknowledge the benefits of Voter ID laws.

While it doesn’t appear likely that Voter ID will be implemented in time for the November election, past U.S. Supreme Court rulings such as the one upholding an Indiana Voter ID law in 2008 should give Texans a reason to be optimistic that a federal court would uphold our state’s Voter ID law.

Obama’s Dept. of Justice’s complete disregard for the 10^th Amendment over the past three and a half years has set dangerous precedents of federal overreach. It won’t be easy, but if we as Texans still value our state’s sovereignty, we must continue to fight back.

Thankfully, we have Greg Abbott leading the charge.
