Just a day after House Speaker Dade Phelan dropped out of the re-election race, the Republican Caucus nominated Mansfield State Rep. David Cook for the position. His opponent, Lubbock State Rep. Dustin Burrows, claimed he had enough support to win with Democrat backing.
The debate also included criticism of the American Heart Association, which initially testified against the bill during a Senate committee hearing last month.
Demondrae Murray was charged with soliciting a prostitute, while Eric Buchek was accused of having an “improper relationship” with a student.
