Well into his college career as a wide receiver with the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks, Texan Luke Mayock has quadrupled his receptions during his first three years wearing the No. 86 shirt for the Redhawks.
According to ESPN.com, the redshirt junior has improved dramatically since 2016, his freshman year. That first season, the Sugar Land native logged five receptions for 83 yards for a 16.6 average, but quickly increased to 14 receptions on 215 yards and 22 catches for 319 yards during his sophomore and junior years, respectively.
At 210 pounds and 6 feet, 5 inches, Mayock was a standout as captain of the varsity football team at Fort Bend Clements High School. Senior year saw Mayock achieve 77 receptions on 1,098 yards and 17 touchdowns, according to the Redhawks website.
Mayock’s pedigree is solid: his grandfather, Mike, played for Villanova University and the Pittsburgh Steelers, and NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock is his uncle.
