Argyle native Kason Howell recently completed his freshman season with the Auburn baseball team by playing center field for the Tigers in the College World Series.
Howell, a graduate of Liberty Christian School, batted .262 with a .307 slugging percentage and .340 on-base percentage, to go with 31 runs, 28 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases. He started in all 63 games in which he appeared.
In the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, Howell was 1 for 3 at the plate in the Tigers’ opening game against Mississippi State on June 16, and then was 1 for 4 with an RBI in the elimination game loss against Louisville on June 18. It was Auburn’s first College World Series appearance since 1997.
While at Liberty Christian, Howell was ranked as a top-500 player in the nation, according to Auburn’s website. He was twice named to the TAPPS All-State First Team and once to the Second Team.
