Another Texas teacher has been accused of sexual misconduct with a student.

Amanda Lee-Rose Greenwood, 33, was arrested and charged with improper relationship between educator and student.

Greenwood is a teacher at Cleveland High School in the Cleveland Independent School District, located northeast of Houston.

The offense is a second-degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison and includes sexual contact or sexually explicit communication with a student, regardless of the student’s age.

Jail records show the offense occurred on December 20, 2025.

Greenwood was taken into custody on January 6 by the Cleveland ISD Police and booked into the Liberty County Jail. Bond was set at $30,000.

Cleveland ISD Superintendent Glenn Barnes released a statement on January 7 confirming that the district was “recently made aware of an allegation of inappropriate conduct involving a student.”

Upon receiving this information, the district acted immediately in accordance with district policy and state law. The matter was referred to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department.

Today the district was notified that the employee has been formally charged with an improper student-educator relationship.

We understand this information is deeply concerning. Please know that Cleveland ISD is fully cooperating with law enforcement and all appropriate authorities. The safety, well-being, and trust of students and families remain our highest priority.

“Due to student privacy laws and the ongoing legal process, the district is limited in the details it can share at this time. We encourage parents and guardians to continue having open and age-appropriate conversations with their children and to report any concerns to campus administration or the district,” the statement concluded.

Barnes also shared a list of “frequently asked questions” about the allegations and Greenwood’s arrest.

State records show Greenwood holds a Texas teaching certificate for History.

Over the past few years, hundreds of Texas teachers and school employees have been accused of sex crimes involving students and other children, and thousands have been reported to the Texas Education Agency for sexual misconduct.

Another Cleveland ISD employee, bus driver Jonathan Cranfill, was arrested in December 2025 and charged with sexual assault of a child. The district stated that the alleged crime was not related to Cranfill’s job.
