A now-former band teacher in Lampasas Independent School District was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to having sex with a female student.

Lampasas Middle School band director Jeremy Lyndell Flint, 35, was arrested in July and charged with improper relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison.

Flint had been allowed to resign in January after parents reported allegations that their 17-year-old daughter was involved in a sexual relationship with Flint.

At the time of his resignation, Flint had taught in Lampasas ISD for eight years. His wife Chloe Flint was the assistant band director at Lampasas High School. She resigned in February.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office investigators learned that the victim had attended a dinner with Flint and his wife. Flint then began sending the girl text messages and hand-written letters saying that he loved her and wanted to marry her.

A witness told investigators that Flint admitted to exchanging photos with the student on Instagram and claimed he had sex with the girl in the LMS music library in December 2024.

In May, the student confirmed to investigators that she and Flint had exchanged nude images on social media and engaged in sexual intercourse.

Because the victim was 17 at the time—the legal age of consent in Texas—Flint was not charged with sexual assault of a child. But it is a crime for any educator to have a sexual relationship with a student, regardless of the student’s age.

On November 21, Flint entered a plea of guilty to the felony charge of improper relationship.

Judge Debbie Garrett of the 27th District Court then sentenced Flint to 12 years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility.

State records show Jeremy Flint’s teaching certificate is under review by the Texas Education Agency. Chloe Flint permanently surrendered her certificate in September.

In just the past few years, hundreds of Texas teachers have been accused of sex crimes involving students and other children.
