Canyon Randall High School alum Heston Kjerstad didn’t have to wait long this summer for his next mission in baseball.

Kjerstad, a star outfielder for Arkansas for the last two seasons, has joined the Team USA Collegiate National Team, according to ArkansasRazorbacks.com.

Team USA began training camp during the last week in June in North Carolina and was scheduled to play a series with Cuba beginning July 2 in Durham and begin a playing tour of Taiwan and Japan in mid-July.

This past season, Kjerstad — the 2018 Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year — hit .327 with 17 home runs and 51 RBIs as a sophomore, earning his second-straight All-SEC Second Team honor. He helped lead the Razorbacks to the College World Series for the second consecutive season as well.

At Canyon Randall, Kjerstad was both a Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association  and a Texas Sports Writers All-State First Team selection.
