With a drive to be known as a hard worker, JaQuia White is completing her freshman year with the Southern Methodist University Mustangs women’s basketball team.

According to her profile on the Mustang’s website, White is a native of DeSoto who stood apart as a high school recruit. With the DeSoto High Lady Eagles, she achieved a ninth-place state ranking and 69th nationwide, as her bio on Maxpreps.com reveals. Her varsity stats show 31 games played, and an average of 3.3 points per game.

Her freshman stats in college have improved. She played in 24 games during the 2018-19 season, scoring seven points, five rebounds and three field goals against Wichita State. So far, her longest playtime during a single game clocks in at 36 minutes in the game against Temple.

On the court, White will study basketball under Coach Travis Mays, whom she described as detail oriented. She also told the Mustangs her academic studies will emphasize mathematics and statistics.
